The Modesto Traditional Jazz Society was founded in Modesto more than twenty years ago. The club’s purpose is to preserve and promote our unique American National music treasure for future generations. The Society provides opportunities for jazz musicians to share their talents with appreciative listeners and dancers, and encourages youth to learn and continue the American art form, especially Traditional Dixieland Jazz. The Society meets the third Sunday of each month at the Clarion Inn, 1612 Sisk Road — Modesto, with “jam” sets beginning at noon. Monthly meetings feature local jazz bands. Members and performers come from all walks of life and musical backgrounds, but all have the common bond of a love for live entertainment and Dixieland Jazz.
