April Jazz Event: Founder’s Day/Rent Party

Happy 36th Anniversary
Modesto Traditional Jazz Society
April 15, 2018

It is hard to believe that we have been meeting at the Clarion Inn for nearly eight years. We will be celebrating our Founder’s Day and Rent Party on April 15th this year, the week after Easter Sunday. Every year, in April, we come together to remember and honor our Founders and all the others that have contributed their time and talents through the years. It is a day filled with good memories of the Modesto Traditional Jazz Society. Come and enjoy music, and several other activities that are scheduled. Plan on having a great day visiting with friends, dancing, and listening to the line-up of bands sharing their talents to benefit the club. Oh, did I say. There should be anniversary cake for dessert!!

Our April meeting will be held in Rooms 1 and 2, so there will be lots of room to dance. Please look for the sign-in table inside the main room, where everyone can enjoy the music. If you haven’t been to a meeting in a while please be sure that your dues are current and all your information is up to date, and, especially, that we have your email address as we are now publishing the Jazzette on line and would like to email it to you. We are sorry about some confusion last month. Let’s make this year the best ever!

After a group of musicians (Hogin’s Heroes) participated in a couple of annual benefits for the American Cancer Society, they decided to form their own jazz society and play on a monthly basis.  The Modesto Traditional Jazz Society began as the Modesto Dixieland Jazz Society in 1982.  It was founded by Deck Hogin, Lynn Russell, and Eddy Ruud.
